Plastic Surgery Research

Plastic surgery is a medical specialty concerned with the "correction" or restoration of form and function. Though cosmetic or aesthetic surgery is the best-known kind of plastic surgery, most plastic surgery is not cosmetic; plastic surgery includes many types of reconstructive surgery, hand surgery, microsurgery, and the treatment of burns.

In the term plastic surgery, the adjective plastic denotes sculpting, and derives from the Greek πλαστική (τέχνη), plastikē (tekhnē), “the art of modelling” of malleable flesh.

Types of plastic surgery :

Breast augmentation denotes the breast implant and fat-graft mammoplasty procedures for increasing the size or changing the shape or feel of the breasts of a woman. The surgical implantation approach effects global breast augmentation using either a saline-filled or a silicone-filled prosthetic breast; and it might also consist of corrections effected with transplanted skin flaps. The fat-transfer approach effects the augmentation, and corrects the contour defects of the breast hemisphere with grafts of autologous adipocyte fat tissue. Each breast-augmentation approach is a type of cosmetic surgery and can be used in post–mastectomy breast reconstruction, to address congenital defects of the breast or chest wall, or to change the size or shape of healthy breasts at for aesthetic or other reasons.
In breast reconstruction practice, the tissue expander is a temporary breast-implant device used to prepare the implant-pocket (recipient site), as part of a staged reconstruction mammoplasty procedure. In non-implant breast augmentation practice, some fat-graft injection approaches feature tissue engineering, which is the pre-operative external tissue expansion of the recipient site. In non-surgical practice, the corrective approaches might consist either of an externally applied vacuum device, which will expand the tissues of the recipient site, or of oral medications; yet, in most instances, the medium-volume, fat-graft augmentation of the breast is limited to one brassière cup-size, or less.

Tummy Tuck
Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure which removes excess skin and fat on the abdomen, tightens the abdominal muscles and can involve liposuction of the love handles and other areas in order to shape the abdomen.

Abdominoplasty is an elective surgical procedure involving the removal of excess fat and skin from the abdominal area in order to create a profile that is instantly more smooth and firm. The muscle layer is tightened, reshaping the abdominal wall and dramatically improving its appearance and strength.
Abdominoplasty is extremely effective in providing you with the visual results you long for, especially following weight loss or pregnancy.
Abdominoplasty Surgery
Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck Surgery removes the excess skin and fat on the abdomen which can be easily pinched as seen on the above pictures. After that skin and fat has been removed, the remaining skin on the upper abdomen is released and pulled down, or redraped, over the open area to close it. In the end, skin is tightened, muscles are tightened (if needed), and the belly is flatter.

Liposuction

Liposuction (also referred to as lipoplasty, liposculpture suction, lipectomy, or lipo), is cosmetic surgery procedure used to break up and remove fat. Most often the abdomen, love handles, inner and outer thighs, neck, chin, and back are liposuctioned. The fat is removed through an instrument called a cannula. Suction is applied to the cannula to remove excess and stubborn fatty cells. Liposuction permanentlyremoves fat cells from the body. However, if you do not maintain a healthy lifestyle after the operation, you will gain weight and that the remaining fat cells grow bigger (but you won’t’ grow new fat cells in the area where you had liposuction).
The amount of fat than can be safely removed is limited. Liposuction has a number of possible risks, including infection, numbness and/or scarring. If too much fat is removed there may be lumpiness or dents in the skin. Experts say that the surgical risks are linked to the amount of fat removed.

Liposuction Is One of the Most Popular Cosmetic Surgery Procedures

We all strive to look and feel our best. Diet and exercise are the cornerstones of staying fit, but sometimes that is not sufficient. Now you have the answer: Body Sculpting Liposuction. As more women and men want to look and feel better about themselves, body contouring and liposuction continue to grow in popularity, making liposuction one of the most popular cosmetic surgery performed today.
We’ve all heard it before; exercise and diet are key ingredients to living a healthy balanced lifestyle and maintaining perfect body weight. Exercise will improve your mood, increase your self confidence, give you an energy boost and combat health conditions and disease. But what if you follow all daily diet and exercise protocol to a T and still find yourself unable to get rid of your body’s problematic areas? There are so many frustrated men and women who have tried every diet fad and exercise method in today’s market. From home gyms to work out videos, diet pills and diet regimes, many still find themselves battling the same issue…..unwanted body fat.
When all else fails, consider liposuction. Liposuction helps reduce pockets of stubborn fat in the body that are extremely resistant to diet and exercise. While not a substitute for weight loss, liposuction can help achieve smooth body contours. This procedure is ideal for patients who are relatively close to their ideal body weight. It also benefits patients who have localized fatty tissue where their body consistently faces challenges dealing with a diet and exercise regime. These pockets of fatty tissue are often genetically pre-determined and cannot be jogged back into shape but must be surgically removed.
As people begin to age, fat deposits relocate themselves, making liposuction the only solution to getting rid of troublesome areas. Problematic areas found in men are usually found within the abdomen, neck and love handle area. Women find their troublesome spots to be located in the hips, butt and thighs. Liposuction can also be used to sculpt calves, inner knees, ankles, cheeks and jowls. Although a healthy diet along with exercise keeps the body in shape, liposuction is an added benefit to keeping your body fat free.

Body Sculpting

Liposuction is about body sculpting
, not fat removal. It is a technique that can be used to sculpt virtually any body area where you may have abnormal or excessive fatty deposit. Liposuction can remove the excess fat, and that fat is either discarded or it can be used to fill in areas where it is missing to smooth out body contours. See the picture below. Liposuction of was done on love handles and the removed fat was then processed and placed into the butt to give the patient a fuller, rounder butt with a shapelier, curvier mid-section
Face Lift
A facelift truly takes years off your face. Facelift surgery tightens the skin over the cheeks and neck, and redefines the jawline. It results in the elimination of facial wrinkles, the repositioning of sagging skin and facial fat, and tightening of the skin. A facelift is often combined with a browlift and eyelid surgery for total facial rejuvenation.
Eyelid surgery
Blepharoplasty removes excess/droopy eyelid skin and reshapes the eyes. It can also remove fat from around the eyes to correct puffy and tired-looking eyes.
Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty surgery reshapes the nasal bones and cartilage. It has an impact on the appearance of the nose as well as breathing.
Otoplasty
Otoplasty surgery corrects prominent ears. Most commonly an incision is made on the back side of the ear where it is hidden, and sutures are used to bend the ear cartilage to create a natural looking ear.
